Christmas in Laponia

At Christmas in Laponia, the city of Rovaniemi and other towns are illuminated with Christmas lights, and also with something very special:
ice lanterns or snowballs.

The finnish custom to celebrate these holidays includes the sauna and the preparation of Christmas dinner. The most important moment comes with the visit of Santa Claus, when he knock on the door and    asks: ¿Are there any good children in this house?

The custum of decorating a tree in Finland begins in 1829 when a man placed 8 decorated trees in his reception rooms. The custom began in the Southwest and little by little spread to the rest of the regions. By tradition, the tree is decorated in homes on December 24 and remains until January 6. After this period it is removed and when it is dry enough it will serve as firewood to heat thee house or the sauna.

One of the activities we should do if we spend Christmas in Laponia is to ride a sleigh pulled by authentic reindeer, and explore the incredible snowy landscapes. The walk is done very well covered in furs.

The little ones will be amazed by the view of Santa Clau´s house. Where you can eat gingerbread in Santa Clau´s wife´s kitchen, ask Santa Clau´s for all you wishes, among many other activities.
